I made an album in linux a few years back. I mostly used ardour, jack, hydrogen et al on a vanilla ubuntu. It's free and released under cc-by.

I'd love to hear what you think.
I have some older music on the site as well, but it wasn't done in linux. Since this is "linuxmusicians.com", you are allowed to listen, but you have to have a frown on your face while doing so and shake your head in disgust every 4 seconds. Or something.

Re: Art of Presentation (full album)
Hi Jesse!
Great stuff! I've just listened to AOP and I'll def. listen again as its one of the most unique albums I've heard to emerge from Linux land yet. Lots of interesting ideas and unusual phrasing and textures all over. There was one song (Arecibo Message) that almost recalled Ozric Tentacles but only vaguely. It was far from any kind of rip-off even then. On the whole, it didn't sound like anything I'd heard before so well done Jesse!
I see it got released over 3 years ago now. Have you done much recording since?
EDIT
I just spotted your note about your older WINDOWS RECORDED work. Yuck! Must... not... LISTEN!

Thanks danboid! You are too kind. I had not heard of "Ozric Tentacles". I looked them up on the youtubes and I'm completely hooked. Do you have any recommendations of where to start with in their discography? They are somewhat prolific in terms of number of albums released.
I have a number of recordings I've done after AOP, just not a full albums worth. They are in various stages of completion. I'm also not sure how they all fit together. I almost would rather just start from scratch. Some of the energy that I used to put into recording these songs went towards the band I play with (also due for putting out some new recorded material).

Re: Art of Presentation (full album)
Ozric albums? Sorry, I don't own any and nor do I know what I have heard nor what to recommend.
Growing up as a teenager in 90's England, Ozric Tentacles were something you were almost guaranteed to hear at music festivals of the time.
Seeing as you're into jazzy rock like me, have you heard:
The Soft Machine (first 3 albums)
Secret Chiefs 3 (Book M is my fave)
Cardiacs (More punk than jazz but who cares? The Seaside and On Land and in the sea are my faves but everything they did was amazing)
Gentle Giant (watch their live videos - I don't like their albums so much)
Out of Focus - WAKE UP! (their first album)
Those are some of my fave, lesser-known (hmm, maybe not Soft Machine and Gentle Giant - they're quite well known to prog fans) prog/jazz rock bands. I'll leave it at that as you've already got too much to digest with Ozrics already!

I love the suggestions
I've heard a little of Soft Machine and Gentle Giant (I am a bit of a prog-head myself)
Cardiacs is absolutely zany! When I get a chance all have to look into your list a little deeper. Thanks!

And then I'd skip the rest. The Soft Machine were possibly the greatest group of all time.danboid wrote: Seeing as you're into jazzy rock like me, have you heard:

Sorry, had to toss in some hyperbole. I really loved that band, and yes, those first three albums are astonishing.
Somewhere on YouTube there's a version of Moon In June with the lyrics, they're beautiful. Robert Wyatt, pure genius. And Michael Ratledge was the truly one of the finest keyboardists I've ever heard.
Best,
dp
