Re: Going Beyond Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra
I've tried 12 instances of Dimension LE running in Festige (Carla won't recognize the .dll file when it comes to dssi-vst, so if only Carla could use fst instead) and it ran great so far. But it would be nice to have a Linux port of Dimension LE.
(As an off-topic note, even a VSTi called Spicy Guitar would work with fst using fsthost but crash with dssi-vst in Carla.)

Great!GraysonPeddie wrote:I've tried 12 instances of Dimension LE running in Festige
The Dimension packs come with SFZ files and programs; so how does that work? Does Dimension use either of them and there are additional options with the programs, or does it just use the programs?
Yeah, I found that even vst's that will run in Carla make it hang on shutdown and even when I get Carla to shut down, dssi-vst still runs in the background. I think falkTX is building his own (vst wrapper? I guess) and I'm just using Festige until that comes out.GraysonPeddie wrote:(As an off-topic note, even a VSTi called Spicy Guitar would work with fst using fsthost but crash with dssi-vst in Carla.)

Re: Going Beyond Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra
Well, if someone at Digital Sound Factory doesn't mind, here is the message text that I got in my e-mail:
Also, here's another thing about Studio Orchestra:
So, playing SFZ files in LinuxSampler will probably be fine, even though it will be limited unless you use Cakewalk Dimension LE.The .prog file is very important. The Dimension player is a SFZ player, but also has .prog (programs) that point to SFZ files. This allows for layering/combinations, along with various other parameters - filters - fx - envelopes - that are programed in the .prog file. All DSF Dimension sound pack have program files that are tweaked to get the best results from the SFZ files. FYI - SFZ files will import to SFZ players, but in most cases will only contain the multisample keymap and limited parameters.
Also, here's another thing about Studio Orchestra:
And yes, Dimension LE comes with a limited edition sample library that you can use, but you will want to use Dimension in order to experience what Dimension can do that SFZ-only sample players cannot. So, the files ending in .prog extension will output text as a binary, which means it's only proprietary to Cakewalk except for SFZ.Studio Orchestra consists of the source content we recorded to create the Proteus Virtuoso. Virtuoso had to be scaled down to 64mb to accommodate the hardware ROM, so we decided to release Studio Orchestra (1.8gb) as the large un compromised version of these sessions.

Re: Going Beyond Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra
New information: Any VST DLL file such as Dimension LE.dll MUST be placed within the parent directory named .vst.
Correct: /home/$USER/.vst/Dimension LE.dll
Incorrect: /home/$USER/.vst/Dimension LE/Dimension LE.dll
Carla and MUSE Sequencer that uses dssi-vst does not search within a subdirectory inside the VST folder where the plugins are hosted. Many people will have a hard time figuring this stuff out.
Anyway, here's Dimension LE shown in MUSE Sequencer.
