Tip: Non-Session-Manager + VLC

Practice sessions often necessitate using applications that aren't specifically pro-audio and Non-Session-Manager can handle those as easily as it does anything else.
For pdfs and images you can add the appropriate application to your session or with NSM-Proxy have specific pdfs and/or images opened; how to do this should be fairly obvious.
Integrating video playback into a practice session works the same but where I had difficulty, and the reason for this tip, is saving bookmarks for a video from session to session. It is possible to create and save bookmarks in VLC and even to open videos with those bookmarks immediately available.
How to create and save bookmarks in VLC:
1. CTL+B > Create bookmark
2. Media > Save Playlist to File
The next trick is to get VLC to open with those bookmarks available. Using Non-Session-Manager you'll want to use NSM-Proxy > vlc --playlist-autostart /path/to/playlist.xspf
Remember to save the playlist after creating additional bookmarks; VLC won't remind you to do it.
