Yamaha CBX-T3

Hi,
Hope I'm posting this in the right spot. If not, please move to the appropriate topic.
I have a Yamaha CBX-T3 tone generator from the early 90s. The sounds I've been able to access are nice, IMO. My problem is this, my midi keyboard (Casio CDP-100) is only capable to sending channel change messages. From what I've read I need something able to send messages to the tone generator to access all its features.
I mucked around a bit with the Virtual Keyboard and was able to access more sounds than with the Casio. Then I tried to use the Casio out to the Virtual Keyboard in through a m-audio Midisport 2x2. I had some luck with that, but I'm still not getting all the features.
I'm hoping someone here has used one of these tone generators and could point me in the right direction.
On a somewhat different note, is KXStudio good for LMDE? I really want to be done with Ubuntu (don't care for their corporate policies) and I tried to use ARCH for music but was only successful in making a mess of the already delicate sound configuration. I'd like to find something that works. I read a post here about KXStudio coming to Debian, but don't know when/if that might happen.
Cheers,
Spudlabs

but I'm still not getting all the features.
Can you be more precise? What features are you looking to access that you are unable to access?

Sorry for the long delay in responding. Life gets in the way sometimes.
The tone generator is capable of different types of reverb and has 3 banks of sounds.
From the reading I've done, I need to be able to send Change Control messages (I think that's right). My keyboard can only send channel change messages.
I don't know what to use to interface with the generator and send the CC messages.
I can get a dump of sound banks using SimpleSysexxer and I've tried to import that data into Hexter, but I'm still not getting all of the available sounds.
I'm obviously new to MIDI and don't know how I can send the correct messages to access all the sounds and the effects.
Any ideas??

Usually Change Control messages are either sent from a software sequencer on a PC (for example Rosegarden on Linux) or else from a master keyboard with programmable knobs, sliders and buttons or from a MIDI controller.
I don't know if your keyboard can be used for that but the instruction manual should tell you. Else you need to use a software sequencer or buy a programmable MIDI controller, for example the Behringer BCR 2000: http://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_bcr_2000.htm

Thanks for that information. I've installed Rosegarden and will give it a try.
