Im very new to sound recording. I installed ardour. I guess i need JACK to record with my little H2Zoom. I,m running Xubuntu 12.10 Is there a wrong & right way to start all of this? Any Help Please I want to get it right.
I have a old MX300 Sound card not installed yet.(Not sure if i can find drivers) I,m using my onboard sound so far.
Thanks Smuggly

I would install kxstudio. Thats always my recomendation. That being said I'm pretty sure ardour installs jack2 automatically. They don't make this very clear in their documentation and that tends to be confusing.
You need to install a gui for jack I believe and that should be it. I'm not sure whats in xubuntus repos I would recommend installing cadence and claudia even if you have to do it from source. Qjackctl is probably available on xbuntu but I find it confusing, hard to work with and an eye sore.
I could be wrong about all of that and you might want to wait for someone else to chime in. I'm not sure about your sound card so you might have to look in to that too.
