First Renoise Track (via APC20)

Post by Arpee Ong »

..almost switched to windows (ableton) but lucky to have found renoise which runs very good with linux and a newly purchased controller (apc20).

this is my 1st stab using renoise, looking forward to write complicated tracks with it soon:

really happy with the duplex tool setup and something i'll definitely be performing with live in the future. really relieved to have found an ableton alternative although not open source, my controller setup is already perfectly configured with my current all-linux based stack :)

any feedback will be appreciated esp. from my fellow renoise user here in the forums..

cheers! :)

Very cool. Can you tell us how you've got it set up? I've been wanting to add to my live performance gear.

Hi dednikko, i've installed renoise, hooked my apc20, downloaded and installed duplex http://www.renoise.com/tools/duplex (dragged the duplex xrnx file to the renoise window). The tool may then be explored via the Tools -> Duplex Browser wherein I was able to activate/choose APC20 and desired layout.

Switching between the patterns from the renoise matrix is not quantsized to a given beat though, so pressing the "launcher" buttons (right most) must be precise. Took me awhile to get used with it coming from ableton, but once you get a hang of your tracks beat, it should be easy.

here's my 2nd renoise track btw.. again this is performed/recorded live using apc20..

Thanks..
