Good USB hub

So, I wanted to test setting up the budget version of multitrack by using alsa_in with multiple USB dongles on a USB hub. I know there's downsides, but I wanted too see how this would work, especially because this can be mixed with cheap mics and those with less means can hack something together cheaply.

I found that the super cheap USB Hub I ordered recently causes extra xruns with the interface. The interface works plugged directly into the computer, but even when it is the only thing on the hub, it has xruns.

Does anyone have suggestions about what to look for in a hub to avoid this? Maybe others could just test hubs you have to report how they work? I want to find the least expensive hub that is good enough for this purpose (note: it needs to not have the ports too crammed together or it isn't easy to plug in things next to each other).

but would the power issue have anything to do with running a single one of these little audio interface dongles? Surely that takes very little power. This cheap hub has an option to be powered but didn't come with an adapter. I could look into getting a power adapter, but I'm guessing the design of this just isn't great.
