presonus 1818vsl ADAT outs (all 8?)

Hey Everybody!
This is a question for people who are using the presonus 1818vsl.
I have been very happy using this device recording with ardour2 running under fedora.
I have recently added a digimax fs, via adat.
I can 8 channels coming IN from the digimax, however, sending audio OUT the ADAT, I can only get channels 17/18 (7 & 8 on the digimax).
I tried also with a lucid 8824 and get the same thing.... audio can come out the last two channels but nowhere else.
Can someone else who is using the 1818vsl confirm they are able to send audio OUT all the ADAT channels??
