I'm using PureData PureData for some MIDI processing (a very versatile tool: i might write a separate article about that at some point), and found out something unexpected:
Running live MIDI though PureData, I noticed the latency left a bit to be desired. Digging around a bit, and triggered by the friendly folks at #dataflow, I tried setting the 'delay (msec)' setting in the Audio settings to a lower value, and it turns out this has a positive effect on the MIDI chunking, too!
As I'm not doing any audio signal manipulation, it seems setting the delay to '1' introduces no problems, and much improves latency.

Re: PureData MIDI latency
specifying '-sleepgrain 1' (or some other low value) further improves latencies
