Hi Guys!
This is my second completed track in Kxstudio. I started this track in Lmms with the aim of finishing it completely inside lmms, but lmms is a bit buggy.
So I exported the loops and arranged them in Ardour3 (its awesome). I used SEQ24 for sequencing and SQ8L (vsti) for the sounds.
I initially mastered the track using the calf plugins (they are wonderful) but I couldnt get the quality that I used to get with variety of sound vst plugins (they are free and amazing).
So I chained a bunch of them and got this (I am not a sound engineer and I don't own studio monitor's So my mixing and mastering might be crappy).
Anyways here it is...

Hello Troy, I like that one a lot !
This time I am a big fan of the intro, the drop sounds are nicely balanced with the crescendo and integrates nicely in the structure of the song.
Did the arpeggio are manual or did you use an arpeggiator ?
Anyway if you have the time, a small description of the combination of the software you used and of your workflow would be nice. It is always interesting to discover each other sound recipes at least if there is no secret about it
Cheers.

HI DoosC
,
I am used to making music using DAWs (FLstudio) in windows. Its convinient for midi sequencing and to be able to change the instruments at ease.
I had a major problem when I switched to Linux because there is no good midi sequencing software with enough soft synths.
LMMS is the only one that I liked but its mixing capabilities are not good enough so I prefer to program the notes in lmms just to get an idea.
Then I record the instruments into Ardour as loops and then arrange.
For this song I used Seq24 for sequencing the midi and that includes the arpegio parts also (I wrote it manually).
I started the project in LMMS, So I took the pad and bass sounds from tripple oscillator.
The synth sounds are from SQL8 vsti.
A bit of Filter automation on the synth in Ardour using calf filter.
It'll be great if you could share your work method

Well... it is almost the same as yours !
- I used to mainly sequence on seq24
- with ZynAddSubFX as the main synth
- with Rakarrack for crazy FX
- and I mix the whole thing either in Ardour or Schism Tracker
In the future, if I find the time, I would like to try to use Ardour 3 midi capabilities to have a more straightforward workflow and to diversify my synth usage (I have a nice time experimenting with WhySynth, TAL NoiseMaker, amSynth and Phasex) and effect usage (IR LV2, CALF suite, MDA suite, QMidiArp, etc).
So much exciting things to do...

I like that; it's nice. So often the electronica I hear drones on and on but you throw in a lot of changes and keep it interesting. One small suggestion, I hope you don't mind, I think a longer fade out at the end might sound better; it seems a little quick.
War, crime, disease, starvation, extreme poverty; these are serious things.
Music? Not so serious. Have some fun!
