I see. I installed Mint for a day or so a year or two ago so I don't know much about it. I stand corrected.wolftune wrote:You're mistaken. They've had it all this time. It was there when I first came to GNU/Linux in 2010 before I had a clue what Debian even was or why there were all these versions of Mint (KDE xfce etc.), it all seemed like meaningless jargon to me.AnthonyCFox wrote: They haven't had a Debian version available all this time have they? I looked at distrowatch, and they announced the Alpha in 2008.skavar wrote:linux mint debian edition was released in 2010

Ah yes, I thought I remembered a fuss being made over a Debian-based Mint.skavar wrote:linux mint debian edition was released in 2010

Re: Move KXStudio to ArchLinux?
The core applications (Cadence and Carla) are actually working fine under Debian. Not that smooth, as on the native KXStudio, but close enough . On the other hand i noticed that the versions from Arch (AUR) are pretty old ones. Are the Arch support dropped? And when will we see KXStudio over the rock-solid Debian? (I actually interpret the topic question like "move away KXStudio from Ubuntu, aka its always a bad idea to put all your eggs in one basket")

the Arch cadence is a git. just use yaourt, packer or something like that to update it..totalchaos wrote:The core applications (Cadence and Carla) are actually working fine under Debian. I do it at least once a week. I'm up to date.

Re: Move KXStudio to ArchLinux?
@funkmuscle I currently use kubuntu wily but I'm increasingly frustrated by the lack of recent uptodate kxstudio packages. There is a wily PPA but it's only got a few support (jack1 etc) packages and I'm loathe to overlay old kxstudio apps on top of of a wily pre-release as it's unstable enough already. Anyway I am thinking more and more of dual booting Arch, or even move back to Arch entirely again, but are there any AUR4 meta-audio package that include all or most of kxstudio (carla etc) without having to chase them up individually? And is there any kind of Arch audio site/forum/q&a for support and encouragement these days... does the pro-audio(?) effort still exist?
