Re: mageia for audio
I have used Mandriva for audio work for many years and found it always very suited due to the very large choice of packages and good kernel build options (not a rt kernel but it still seemed quite optimized for low latency).
Since Mageia is in many ways the natural successor of Mandriva (i.e. made by the same people and based on the Mandriva packages) I would imagine that Mageia is equally suited for audio as Mandriva used to be, but I haven't tried it myself as I switched to CentOS 6.x for long-term support (I was fed up of the continuous upgrades).
