Hello everybody

Not sure it's the right place to post this, but is there any hope to have a low-latency kernel >= 3.19.1 in kxstudio ? Yes I know I _could_ manually install it but I'd rather spend my few spare time doing music than messing with linux kernel ;)

TIA

In my view, there is no need to package already packaged stuff, unless there is a big issue.

Wow! I've used it just couple days ago when I tuned my friends' piano (first time in my life). Wonderful tuner, very accurate.

My request, Rui Nuno Capela's Drumkv1 - 0.7.1 has this bug,
"exclusive Group assignment: drumkv1 will crash immediately on any sample/key triggering that has its Group setting to anything but "Off" or "1".
Was recently fixed with drumkv1 v0.7.1.1

Thanks.

Hi there!

How about adding updated tuxguitar to KXstudio repos? Although its sourceforge page looks deserted, it is actually still under development and commits are showing up quite regularly. The instructions for compiling can be found here:

http://sourceforge.net/p/tuxguitar/disc ... /ad46b854/

Basically, all you have to do is to run an *.sh script.

I think it could be a very important addition to KXstudio repos, because updated versions of Tuxguitar have lots of cool new features including *.gpx support, faster startup, better jack and fluidsynth integration. It's my number one choice for playing GuitarPro tabs, and actually I find it also quite convenient for editing and composing.

I would REALLY like this if it's true that it's actually updated. Musescore is still far from completely replacing Tuxguitar. Is there a chance you can contact the devs and get them to make the development more obvious, more noted in some public fashion somewhere? Ideally, it'd move to Git and some other host like GitLab.com…

Unfortunately, I have never spoken to the developer, and from what I saw in sourceforge discussions he does not reply too often.

I would really like to help tuxguitar with publicity, because it is a wonderful piece of software and integrating its fresh versions in famous KXStudio repos could be a good start. It's fairly easy to compile, but for inexperienced users getting the sources and figuring out the rest could be very depressing, so they would think there is no good free and open source GuitarPro alternative.

You could do what FSF and Snowdrift.coop do: sign up on both Twitter and GNU Social (such as https://quitter.se) and you can set it so whenever you post to GNU Social, it automatically mirrors to Twitter. That way, people who use Twitter will get it, and people who reject Twitter can follow you on GNU Social. It's really simple to do this. And you can make a sticky post on Twitter that tells everyone that they could use GNU Social instead.

For reference: https://quitter.se/snowdriftcoop and https://twitter.com/SnowdriftCoop

But ehmmm, quitter? Who the hell thought that was close to a good name...
Yeah, it only works if you're making fun of Twitter, not if you want an independently known service. Anyway, GNU Social includes other options: https://gnu.io/social/try/ (see huge list in link there too). It's all federated, so anyone on any GNU Social can follow anyone anywhere else. Quitter is the variation that feels most like Twitter. To do the mirroring, you do want to check that the server you choose includes the function to mirror to Twitter.

Another request for isse, it's fairly simple to compile & install manually but would be a nice addition to KX
http://isse.sourceforge.net/index.html

Audacity would be nice too but I'm not sure how tricky this would be to set up, I had some problems trying to compile 2.1.1

Audacity stopped working for me. :-( It dumps some cryptic debug info to the /tmp directory and goes away.

Wow, thanks for sharing, it's a really cool program! The demos are pretty impressive! However, I'm not sure, if you can separate bass guitar from lead, or lead from rhythm guitar...

The compilation was a little tricky, but there were some instructions here:

https://sourceforge.net/p/isse/tickets/9/

Don't know how tricky it is on other Linux flavours but this worked for me in Mint 17.2

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install fftw3-dev libasound2-dev
mkdir ~/Downloads/isse
cd ~/Downloads/isse

    git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/isse/code isse-code
    cd isse-code
    git submodule init sdks/juce
    git submodule init sdks/eigen
    git submodule update

cd builds/Linux
        export CONFIG=Release
        export TARGET_ARCH=-m64
        make

cd build
sudo cp ISSE /usr/bin/
http://isse.sourceforge.net/wiki/index. ... _Developer

Falk, I hate to be a nuisance to you, but why use Twitter, a website that has no relation whatsoever to this project, is crammed with incredibly stupid mindless posts, requires a commitment (signing up, possibly use of application, Javascript, ads, possibly privacy concerns etc.)?

Why not just a very simple and healthy plain text change log on the KXstudio website, Slackware style?

Or even, why not a "Change log" read-only topic right here?
