for you Debians and Ubuntu users...AV Linux 2.0

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

for you Debians and Ubuntu users...AV Linux 2.0

Post by funkmuscle »

Hey, I'm not a Deb or Ubuntu user but I like to try out different distros.
A/V Linux I've tried and it rocks.
Here's the latest:
http://www.bandshed.net/AVLinux.html

Description:

AV Linux 2.0 is the successor to AV Linux 1.0 and is a full-featured i386 Linux Operating System that specializes in Multimedia Content Creation. AV Linux 2.0 is based on the Stable and Testing Debian Linux Distributions running the efficient LXDE Desktop Environment. It is further enhanced with Tony Brijeski's Remastersys Installer, Control Panel and Backup Utility. In addition to common everyday Computer tasks it features a full complement of the best F/OSS Multimedia Applications available allowing users to enjoy Multitrack Audio Recording and Mixing, Video Capturing, Editing and Converting, DVD Authoring and Creation, iPod Tools and more...

News:

05/07/2009 AV Linux 2.0 released !
A/V Linux 1.0 users please note that it will no longer be developed or updated because the Ubuntu 7.10 base is no longer actively supported by Ubuntu and the 7.10 Repositories are getting quite dated... so dated that the entire Audio Suite was already built from Source. Due to Ubuntu's 6 month release schedule and the difficulties it incurs with continuity AV Linux 2.0 will now be developed using Debian which favours a longer term rolling release model that is much more sustainable for A/V Work. I apologize to current A/V Linux 1.0 users for any inconvenience and assure you that this move to a current Debian base will be better in the long run.

I am just about to try it - looks very good. Unfortunately the live-DVD does not run the rt-kernel. Still it offers astounding performance....
