IIRC, I used "alien" and "fakeroot" to install Synthv1 on my Bodhilinux PC, since the package on sourceforge is .rpm and not .deb.

I suppose I can do the same thing on KXStudio, right? On Bodhi Synthv1 seems to be working just fine... it even installed into the menu bar! :D

Any thoughts? Do you guys use fakeroot/alien for anything on your PCs?

There are synthv1 packages available in the KXStudio plugins repository. I would use those and not an rpm that is build for OpenSuSE.

Yes, but I installed, removed and reinstalled with no luck..

Well, good news! I had to "sudo rm -r" some additional synthv1 files I found in various places. Then I did an updatedb and reinstalled synthv1.

It works! Yea! I can even save patches! :)

Now I can also go to bed..

Just waiting now for the new release of Triceratops so I can make a bank or two of patches there, too!

PS. Falk, was the update for Phasex not possible?

I assume it is, haven't checked yet.
I'll do that tomorrow.

Which reminds me, we need a better way to deal with package requests... any suggestions?
Depends on what is important. Maybe a dedicated thread?

Hi everyone,

I'm a bit confused about the newest release of Triceratops. I downloaded the package (older PC using Bodhi Linux) and unzipped it. Read the ReadMe and ran the commands to build. But the second command failed, it seems I must be missing a whole lot of libraries... correct?

The image above gives the output of the failed command ./waf.

BTW, it looks like Triceratops is to be run using galv.gtk... --Is Triceratops is a type of SAS? (software as service?)

Any feedback much appreciated by this apprentice!

falkTX wrote:triceratops is already the latest version afaik.

anyway, if you want to recompile any software in the kxstudio repos, the deps can be easily installed with for example:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get build-dep triceratops-lv2
Yes, on KXStudio I'm sure it is. I was doing an install on another pc that doesn't have KXstudio that gave me the errors. I just wanted to know if the errors were due to missing packages.

The compiler's error report indicates an outdated or broken installation of the LV2 package. You're missing an extension with the state.h header.

Best,

It's the LV2 library package itself. Do this to verify :

Code: Select all

lv2config | grep state
On my KXStudio box it returns this information :

dlphilp@Maximus-i386:~$ lv2config | grep state
/usr/include/lv2/lv2plug.in/ns/ext/state => /usr/lib/lv2/state.lv2/

Also :

dlphilp@Maximus-i386:~$ ls -l /usr/include/lv2/lv2plug.in/ns/ext/state/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1507 Feb 23 10:19 lv2-state.doap.ttl
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 233 Feb 23 10:19 manifest.ttl
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 14581 Feb 3 08:33 state.h
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12837 Feb 3 08:33 state.ttl

Let me know what your system reports.

Best,

dp

Hi dp,

I only get a "lv2config: command not found".

Hi falk,
I removed lv2core.
Is the lv2-dev package you refer to one of these:

libnabrit-dev
liblilv-dev
libnacore5
libnacore-dev
libpaq-dev
libnabrit2
libslv2-dev
lv2-c++-tools
libnabrit-dbg
liblv2dynparam1-dev

..?

thx..

falkTX wrote:no, it's really "lv2-dev".
The package has been in the KXStudio repos for quite some time now...

If you don't have that package then you can't build any new-ish lv2 software.
Got it. However, I'm using Bodhi linux on this pc (not my usual pc for music). If I can add the KXStudio repos that might be cool. Will that work? (it's debian-based)

It will only work if it's Ubuntu based (for now).
Looks like it's Ubuntu-based after all: http://www.bodhilinux.com/about_bodhi.php

So I just insert the repos that are listed on kxstudio.sourceforge.net, right? Which in particular will I need for the LV2 problem?

12.04 is fine and supported, older ones will not work, and new ones will kinda work but I don't run them to confirm how well they do.
Good news.. I added the base and plugin repositories, and installed the lv2-dev file: I was able to install Triceratops correctly! Yeah!

It runs in Qtractor fine, but not with jalv.gtk.. I got:

Code: Select all

Missing feature urid:map. Segmentation fault.
