Gday folks,
glad to be here.
I am a wind musician and a percussionist.
Instruments.
I use various wind instruments and have a
yamaha wx11 windcontroller with a vl70m tone generator
a roland handsonic.

I have not had much success with recording due to latency issues.
I am looking for suggestions for a usb audio interface.

I have 2 laptops.
one is a gateway intel core 2 duo cpu t5750 2.00ghzx2 3gb memory.. currently running ubuntu12.10

other is an acer aspire 5349 intel celeron cpu b800 1.50ghz 2 gig ram 64 bit op system running windows 7 and ubuntu 12.10

the gateway laptop is purely linux..
I am new to recording .. I would love any suggestions. at moment I need to get a good usb 2 interface with line in and maybe look at a good microphone.

couple of options I have looked at are..

Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface (about 200 dollars)

Samson G Track USB Microphone and Audio Interface

Presonus Audiobox USB DAW Recording Bundle with Studio One Artist Recording Software, Behringer C1 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone, Sennheiser HD201 Headphone, Desk Stand & 10ft XLR Cable

what I would like to achieve is the ability to lay down a track and then play a second track while listening to the first and synching together.

the only audio interface I have is a cheap vantec usb external 7.1 channel audio adapter

I am not sure what flavor of linux would be a good one to use either.. :(

what suggestions would people make?
needs some help.

Martin.
