Akavir is my stage name, title is Haiku. Just thought I'd clear that up.

At random I'd say one more month, i.e. February 15th?
I was thinking more like just a few days. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll put it off, but I'm going to try to make the podcast this week. I can append someones work too as long as its soon.
'Giving a vote' means just posting at that thread saying one agrees, or maybe you mean some kind of 'thumbs up' option in this forum that I don't know of? I wanted to make sure I get it before doing anything about this.
yes I just meant go reply saying "yes I want that too" to show that there is at least some interest. If you have more reasons why there should be one above what I said add your arguments.

Done. Here is a link to the petition thread if someone else want to show adhesion: http://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic ... 205#p36205

I've already PM'd you my song's wav, too. Thank you very much, it'll be cool to have that one podcast... :)

Now I want to generate a couple of paragraphs about the songs, in case someone care, you know opinion is like a*s, everybody has one :)

I2productions,

I agree, it is impressive getting so much done in so little time. The piece is interesting and nice to hear. I find a certain 'roughness' in the keyboard tracks, whose cause I don't know for sure: choice of the instrument? Maybe because the song does not have 'glue reverb'?

As a Hydrogen user, I envy your battery samplings: the instrument sounds really good, although for my taste maybe a bit too loud in the mix - or is it just the aforementioned lack of reverb?

I also like the choice of effect in the voice phrasing. Very funny, and the choice of the lyrics, talking about 'the beginning of time' results appropriately 'ethereal and metaphysical'. Maybe it is a bad moment to ask you to continue the song (I know I'm fed up with mine right now, and need it out of my sight for a long time), but if you ever decide to give it further development, please share it in these forums at some point :).

Regarding Holstein's contribution, so different, I have to say that I don't usually listen to that kind of music, so it took me a couple of listenings to 'enter'. In the first listening, I thought that the emphasis was mostly on sound quality and performance, both very good in my view, but that the song was kind of an impro. In further listening, however, I've realized that composition is in fact also very deliberate; I like the way in which the song kind of has a landscape of other 'zipped' instruments inside: during the intro, you imagine keyboards, and there are sections where the riffs make you think of guitars. The mind kind of completes the picture, like in those Zen pictures where a couple of lines are used to suggest a whole passage of nature, so it certainly conveys a 'haiku' feeling. All delivered with that serene, beautiful sound. Very nice.

There is now an episode 60!
http://opensourcemusician.libsyn.com/
Thanks tons to everyone who participated. Anyone interested in participating in the next one, stay tuned and we'll probably announce one mid February. Feel free as well to pitch ideas for Tunestorm themes.

Also if you have any interest in recording segments for a podcast (how you record, gear demos, tech segments whatever) please submit! (I know you all have the gear to do it). It would be great if most of the material comes from the community.

Nice work ssj71. You sound quite comfortable behind the mic.

If nothing else, tune storm certainly generates and collates an eclectic mix of tracks no matter what the theme is.

Unfortunately the guitar sounds you hear on my submission are generated by my multi fx pedal, an old Boss GT-5, so I'm not sure there's any useful tips I could share to help folks out. I mentioned it in my "How I record" segment I did way back in episode 24 in October 2009.

As an aside, while looking for that episode number, I tripped over episode 33 which revealed the entries for the inaugural tune storm from March 2010. Back then community managed 16 entries. While obviously any number of entries are a good number of entries, I look forward to the day those heady heights are achieved once more.

Go team!

I dig the podcast! But when you read my notes, you said CTL+S was split(no, that's just S), the correct function is save. The joke its that the only time the program crashed was as I was hitting save!

And to answer your question in the podcast, that's not a preset in guitarix. I always build something fresh for every track.

Very nice sound. :)
I would love to include some of your presets into the guitarix factory settings. :!:
Just drop me a note if you like to share them.

Thanks. Ya, that has been pointed out to me. How embarrassing! :o Oh well. I put a correction in the show notes. I save and split all the time without even thinking. I barely know any of the shortcuts my fingers know. :)

Nice patches in guitarix. It would be great to get some more factory presets in there. Maybe if you feel generous, you could record a 5-15 minute tutorial on building guitarix patches for the podcast!

Thx. Actually as I'm writing YALS/KXStudio documentation, guitarix is on my list to build a quickstart guide for, and create a how-to video for it as well. I think a visual aid with something like guitarix is more appropriate than just speaking on the topic. I'll speak and show!

I've been considering making a tutorial video, but my guitar playing is so awful I worry it will reflect poorly on guitarix :\ It would be great to have one.

I'm just fishing (a lot) for podcast contributions. :)

I can't really play guitar at all. I'm a bit of a bass player, not not great at that. It's just a lot of practice mixing mostly metal and rock groups. I would use all prerecorded material for a tutorial.
