WineASIO

Post by mrthraz »

hi, I hope I'm posting in the right place,

I have an HP dv9000 athlon 64 x2 with 4
gigs of ram, I use it for d.J. work.

I had ubuntustudio 12.04 with kx studio
working just fine when I became aware
that updates to wine might allow me to
run mixmeister.

I learned to mix with mixmister and it is
the sole reason I keep a windows partition.

after moving to Ubuntu I have been
teaching myself plenty of turntablist
tricks with mixxx but I really still
need mixmeister to mix.

I updated my wine, fron 1.4 to
1.5.16 installed mixmeister
and to my surprise it opened
and work...worked well.

now I could have mixmester and mixxx
running side by side and I could finally
d.j. like a pro.

all I needed to do was tell mixmeister
to use the asio drivers supplied by wineasio
and I'm in business.

but it wouldn't open with wineasio.

I did a complete reinstall of the whole o.s.,
32 bit back to 64, jack 1 and jack 2, put the
wineasio.dll.so all over the friggin' place and
still it won't open with any windows program
or plug-in.

is there any adive anyone can give me that can help me???

I'll be interested in the solution to this one as well. I've spent an evening or two trying to get wineasio installed and working. I've gotten exactly nowhere. Someone needs to make a nice easy deb installer for it that actually works. I found a couple, but they didn't work. I could compile it myself (might try this weekend), but I just don't have the time lately to get into that can of worms. I'd like to be able to play with Reaper a bit. I have a couple Windoze boxes around, but where's the challenge in that?

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install wineasio
i'm running kx and wineasio is installed it just won't open

NOTE: The DEB will only work on a recent enough Debian/Ubuntu, which has wine installed in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/wine/.

as usual, run this after install:

Code: Select all

regsvr32 wineasio.dll

ill try this download but i trust the kx studio repo i think something else is going on here

so I install the deb.

I start my windows plugs and ask for asio drivers and the app's crash.

but...

I start reaper ask for the wine asio drivers and it doesn't crash.

it still doesn't show asio ports in qjackcontrol but the app hung in there.

I bring the reaper window into focus and I see the reaper asio ports appear.

I bring qjackcontrol into focus and the ports disappear.

so I'm alittle amazed and bewildered.

lol, thanks, but i meant where is the app. i don't see it in my wine prefixs.

i already opened it so obviously i know its in the repos and had it installed.

i just wanna see if theres any difference between how its setup an how my other wine apps are setup.

'cause reaper successfully calls for wineasio while my installed app's do not.

OK, what I am asking is:
"where is reaper located in my file system?"

I don't see it in my wine prefixes. so I assume their is some
unseen wine prefix that reaper is living in.
