Trouble with Festige

Post by futz »

I've been trying to get Festige to work with various host/DAW programs and have never gotten a single sound out of any plugin. Lots of crashing, but no sound. No sign that the MIDI is reaching the plugin.

I made this simple test setup in Gladish. If anything should work, this should (I think). But I get a big nuthin. Zero. Any ideas why?

System is Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. Festige is the latest version, I think.

I wonder if you problem may be trying to run a windows 32bit dll on a 64bit linux system. I tried Synth1 on my 32bit AVLinux6 system and it worked great. But, also you have not given much detail about your setup - are you able to run Jack and native Linux music apps with no problem - is it clear that your problem is festige and not some other issue?

You may well be right about that. I can use the "Vestige" supplied with LMMS and it works fine. Guess I'll dig some more and see what I can get to work.

Jack and native Linux music apps run fine.

Thanks for saying it yet another time.
If you're running KXStudio, you can simply install that right away. If on Ubuntu, you'd have to enable to kxstudio repos and then install.
For other distros, you'll have to wait a bit.
I did enable the KXStudio repos and installed some things. That was a mistake. It broke a bunch of things badly and mangled my system so bad that nothing audio worked right. It took me many hours to put everything back. I think if I'm going to do KXStudio I'll need to to the whole thing, and I'm not gonna do that on my main machine here. For one thing, I'm uncomfortable in KDE, so the whole thing is not happening on this box. I have plenty of other boxes to experiment on. One of these days...
