Last night's carla-git loads windows vst now. Obviously, not all, but the problem is often on the gui side. For now, I consider it fixed for me. Thanks FalkTX : what was the problem ?

I had wrote 16 instead of 18 as 6x3...
so there as a buffer overflow there. silly mistake, sorry, but it's fixed now.
I love this issues...
Is there any progress in the transport front ?

it's supposed to be working for both normal plugins and bridges now.
Do you have an exemple of a working vst with transport ? I can't find any working.

I tried with the JuceDemoPlugin but it was using the linux build (but still via bridge).
I'll going to test with this and check if all is working:

That one doesn't work for me,neither various step sequencers vst.

Hi all,
i can get windows VST to load in ardour with the Carla plugin on audio tracks. It works great.
For recording our drummers kit we triggered the bassdrums, snare and the toms connected to a Roland TD and record them to a midi track.
I normally use Festige or Carla standalone, sometimes Ardour3 VST, to load Addictive drums with a selfmade preset to get the metal drumsound that fits our music.
The carla plugin inside ardour inserted on a midi track however doesn't load addictive drums because it is multichannel, Is there a chance carla will ever load multichannel VST's on a midi track?
Tnx FalkTx for the great work
Grtz

This would be very usefull FalkTX!!!
I think output 1 and 2 is the stereo master output of addictive drums. Just give it a go an lets see if its going to work.
I know from using it in Ardour 3 VST on a midi track that is has 16 outputs, for bassdrum, snare, toms, Overhead, Buss and the Master channel. Every Kittpiece can be directed to it's own output so that you bypass the overhead, Buss and masterchannel.

nice work with Carla! I'm impressed with the modular approach and how Windows VSTs are able to run better than with dssi-vst.
I'm kind of new to audio on linux, is it possible to use Carla with a DAW? I haven't been able to find any recent docs explaining its features.

As for using Carla within a DAW, yes, the new version will make it possible to use in LV2 hosts (Ardour3 and Qtractor).
A VST version, if possible, will take some time, probably for beta3.
but there's always something that makes me delay the beta release a bit.
it's hard to put a specific date on it, so it should just be "very soon".

darn! I use Renoise so I'll have to wait a bit longer for the VST version. looking forward to the announcement.

more than willing to help test. Im not a coder but im not a noob. Actually do this linux crap for a living.
if you are on google + look up william talkington. I am the moderator of the zoneminder and mythtv group. I have kvm cluster at home with 64 cores for testing and destroying just about anything. could actually probably give you vpn access to a machine or two if it would help your testing.

Reporting carla bridge windows 32 not working since last update (today 10 minutes ago). No sound from any vst. Some works with festige.

For me, trying to load any VST from Carla produces the error message "Failed to load plugin. Timeout while waiting for a response from plugin-bridge (or the plugin crashed on initialization?)" The log shows five instances of the message "ERROR: Carla assertion failure: "portId != -1" in file CarlaEngineJack.cpp, line 1538" for each VST that I attempt to load.

I need to spend a full day on this bridge thing and sort all the big bugs.
I guess I'll delay the 2.0 beta announcement just a tiny bit more...

yes but don't forget to prepare your suitcase for the LAC
