Ninja Step 2012

Ninja Step 2012

NS2012 is a remake of 'Ninja Step' which is the background music from the factory stage of Super (or 'Revenge of') Shinobi. This represents my first project using Aspect and samplv1 and its my second ever qtractor production. I used no FX plugins because its dry sound makes it sound more like a Megadrive and I like it and I think I have spent long enough on this already ie I can't be bothered doing a better mix. Its proved to me I can have a fair amount of Aspect instances running on my laptop without any xruns as I used 14 synth tracks, 16 audio tracks (mixdowns) and 2 sampler tracks here without my oldish (core 2 duo) laptop breaking a sweat.

Just as important was getting to put samplv1 through its paces which I'd been meaning to do since Rui announced its (pre) release. I'm very glad I did as I thought the results were great (the tabla beats were created with samplv1) and even better it highlighted a real nasty bug in samplv1 and synthv1 which Rui squashed the same night I told him about it. Creating this track also led to a bug in qtractors highly useful MIDI resize tool getting fixed and Rui adding keyboard shortcuts for selecting beat snap values so even if no-one likes the track it was still a superb learning exercise for me that has ultimately benefitted everyone in Linux Audio Land - or at least users of qtractor and/or samplv1.

Eternal respect and thanks again to the one and only RNCBC!!
