I was gonna load the song in sonicvisualiser but you guys found out my secret weapon already
You can use the "Gain" knob in the spectogram pane to get more / less detail.

Regarding plugins, from the official website:

Code: Select all

Linux, other Unix	.so Put plugins for all users to use in /usr/local/lib/vamp
Put plugins for the current user only in $HOME/vamp
You can alternatively set the VAMP_PATH environment variable to list the locations a host should look in for Vamp plugins.
VAMP_PATH should contain a semicolon-separated (on Windows) or colon-separated (OS/X, Linux) list of paths. If it is set, it will completely override the standard locations listed above.
Yes, there is a problem with the vamp plugins I got from openSUSE, not with sonic visualizer it self. ( that version works too )

Adding them should be easy enough and was also suggested on the openSUSE forum, to get the plugins directly from the official website.

I was already fiddling with some setting, and I like the program. The gui looks intuitive.

Ethel I think this party is a bit too wild, the guy there was talking about house music, ethel I don't know what it is Ethel, omg look at that guy with the green hair Ethel
Lets get out of here.

its probably my favourite house track, but that's not the reason why I cover it. I want to know why it makes me wanna move.

And because of other cover attempts, I am starting to see some pattern. Its all about timing being a bit off in a strict computer sense and or syncopation.

I might have to add to this statement, that I like funk, disco hip hop, but also Deep Purple Child in time.

And since I started making music even some classical pieces.

Back to the bassline.

The spacing between the first and second note was wrong.

I am still confused how I made this bassline, it was close but no cigar.

I like to thanks everybody for the help.

I just had an omg omg omg moment.

I had in lmms the fixed bassline running, and a Vid of the tunnel remix ( because that version of Kraze the Party starts with the bassline )
With the normal version is allot harder to hear if you have the same bassline.

I was in key and in sync :D ( 122 bpm )

Yo want to start this party riiight ?

Tunnel remix, allot of delay and or just echo ?

Second piano part, which is not in the uploaded version yet, is in lmms.

No idea if the notes are right, but sonic vizualer seems to confirm the pattern I have in lmms.
Just today fixed something, with listening to original at a lower speed.

Three notes before the loop of the second piano part, starts. ( loop = 3 times 3 notes )
Before those 3 notes were missing. The bassline does not seem to change, just continues.

This mend, the bass playing an EEE during the piano break, instead of AAA.
This was bugging me for weeks, another detail fixed in my version,

This should make me famous and or getting sued. :P

The cover is turning into a remix.
Did you guys know there is an a cappela version of this track.

Small update.

Really happy with first part, 4 front piano layered with a synth1 perk organ preset.

https://soundcloud.com/user586365033/the-party5

Then at 54 sec in, the shit hits the fan. As you can hear, I am not afraid to show my failures too.
Why does it sound so horrible, and does it not make me wanna dance, like the first part.

Never give up never surrender though. I will nail that second part too.
Sonic visualizer confirms, my pattern is about right. ( piano plays something like the bassline for that second part )

Template is the 12" club mix.

Nice!

The problem is the timing. Look at the picture. Kick=red, bass=gray.

Interesting.

The timing is a challenge at least to me in this piece :)

Will have a look at my kick, and compare. This should be interesting.

Edit:

Very happy although, I need to find a way to fit this is blocks in lmms.

For now moved bassline, so every third note played is played with a kick, and suddenly there is this typical? kraze - the party beat.

Second part starts to sound good. I have been moving notes, with the bassline as template.

All notes were in scale according to lmms, but my ears were not happy at all.

I am also not totally convinced first part is now 100% right. Will have to look at it some more. ( piano part vs the bassline )

Improvement! :D

In the initial pianopart you are lifting the chord to high in the first change. Just take it one step up (diatonically) to F-major instead. (e e e F e...)

Interesting, will try that.

Second part now finally sounds riiiiiiight. :D

Piano now plays a mayor chord and then two minor chords.
I had made progress, but then noticed middle note of first chord was out of scale.
Then changed it from a minor to a mayor chord and bingo !
At least to my ears it now finally sounds like Kraze.

Somebody else suggested, to have that note less lifted. When I attempted this it sounded terrible, but now will give it another try.
Did not try mayor minor chord change and some other tricks I learned to stay in scale. ( E minor )

While listening to the next parts to cover I noticed some more challenges, and something I can't do.
There is scratching in the track, I had totally forgotten about that. lol

I am however now 2 min in, strictly following the original (club mix) , so it could be time to get more original.

Hey Its not over yet, the party has just begun. :P
