Yeah, it's nothing to do with trying to prove that you're the only one who knows anything.

I had borrowed a hardware oscilloscope once. I looked at my grandiose sound. Since a buddy of mine is building modules, he has the oscilloscope again.

What useful software solutions are there under Linux?
(I have already tested some and there were good ones. However, not only I am old but also my hardware/computer. I have to buy (;-)) a new graphics card, better a new CPU with on board graphics card. Then I can also take part in the test, currently pointless.)

Oh most certainly almost every day.
... Seeing as I've been involved in various forms of electronics since I was about 8

That's quite a substantial part of my job.

it's often very handy when recreating patches from one synth on another.
and very interesting when fiddling with FM synths.

Used it for programming embedded systems, checking that pwm code works ok, checking that interrupt signal is coming to processor, etc.

The answer "I built one" is missing.

Good point!
I did - in the middle 1960s. it had a massive 1MHz bandwidth and was 100% valve driven

edit:
Ah! just remembered, The final anode voltage (about 2kV I think) was derived using a cockcroft ladder :)

Ha, great project! Tube-driven definitely > our semiconductor circuits from the 80s.

Well, in fact I learned and build oscilloscopes first during my vocational training as Electronic technician, some years later. But at this time, it wasn't so much fun, like the ones I build with my grandpa. :D

That's cool! I believe there was a misunderstanding in my previous message though: my grandpa tried to teach me rhabdomancy... that is what the dude in the picture you posted is trying to do isn't it? That piece of wood just looks like those that people would use for rhabdomancy.

Well, I did try, but I never found any water...
