Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin

Post by Philotomy »

Has anyone tried/used the Sonarworks Headphone calibration VST on Linux? They support Mac and Win, but was wondering if anyone had used the plugin on Linux with any success (via Airware or Carla)?

Hi,

this is Rudolfs from Sonarworks. Ve've actually come very close to having a Linux VST 64-bit plugin, I think it is a matter of a month to have it out in beta, so are there any users willing to participate im testing this out?

Ok,

currently the hardest part is the compatibility. We are testing using bitwig on Ubuntu 17.10, but we are building against a reasonably old glibc so older distros should work as well. May I ask what distros are you using?

Oh that's nice! I am not sure whether I can participate with the testing (I am on Arch too, by the way) but I was wondering what is your target distribution? I have the impression, from your post above, that it would be Ubuntu. In this case, would you prefer Ubuntu users as testers?

That's great news!

If you still need testers, I would gladly do it. I run Debian unstable/Sid with KXStudio repositories.

Well, regarding distros, we WOULD like to keep the plugin untied to a specific distro (let's see how we succeed at that). Currently we only depend on glibc and X11, so I guess let's just see if we will be able to run on Arch. So far we have avoided touching any distro specific stuff.

Hi Everyone,

So with the 4.1.5.27 release of the Sonarworks Reference 4, we also will try to beta the Linux plugin. I currently put the plugin on a Google Drive share here (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... Lg0DNwBPZq), since we need to do the landing page for Linux which is currently not present, but I wanted to share this with everyone here asap.

Since we don't have an installer for Linux, here are 4 trial keys (since I counted 4 interested persons in this thread):

AQMGU7-57W53J-ZQ1965-4QBTMP
ESP12R-99XYFK-GQKPEA-Y9269Z
EJBS2U-84EPEQ-KV39WF-ATEFM1
NXUGC9-8PZ978-MCZJPU-CBXM4F

Maybe you can post when you use them so that others do not try the same key.

As I said, we have only a 64bit version, built against an old enough glibc. We tested it on Ubuntu 18.10 with Bitwig and Ardour, seemed fine, since it is all X11 based I guess KDE should work as well but who knows. Anyhow, thanks for everyone who can try this out and I'm hoping for any feedback (good or bad).

One thing for Arch users, we are using /etc/machine-id for a unique software instance id generation and I have heard that some people do remove this on Arch, so that could be an issue.
