repositories kubuntu 18.04 ready?
i'm just testing kubuntu 18.04 beta 2 and would like to add in the kxstudio repositories, i'd just like to check first if the kx repos are ready with support for ubu/kubu 18.04? thanks.

ah great.falkTX wrote:they are yes.
I have 18.04 running on my own PC (together with 14.04 when I need stuff that actually works.. )
yeah, just a separate testing install at the moment. since beta 2 was released it seems pretty stable though, and in just a few days the release candidate comes, which should be pretty solid, so, not all that far off.falkTX wrote: It is quite early to get on 18.04 though.
But oh well, I guess you know that.

Today I tested a fresh installing ,but by Ubuntu Mate 18.04 LTS (not beta). The repositories indeed works. I have cadance+jack2 working.
But Audacity ,Ardour,Hydrogen crashed with :
Also , on menu , some applications miss their icons
I guess Ubuntu 18.04 default installing lacks some packages?
But Audacity ,Ardour,Hydrogen crashed with :

Re: repositories kubuntu 18.04 ready?
so i just installed xubuntu 18.04 and the basics of kxstudio on top of it. i now have jack2, firewire, cadence and carla up and running ... so this is confirmation that this works with the xfce desktop!
great work again, falk! you should really consider moving kx to xfce, its such a clean desktop. thats personal of course

I use Debian on all other machines, but there is one xubuntu 16 LTS laptop that I'd like to upgrade.
Is this still the case with all kxstudio machines based on ubuntu 18?
Is it still to early to upgrade?

There are also missing icons and menu entries in XFCE with using the repos only. In can deliver a sreenshot later.falkTX wrote:The weird menu items is likely something specific to Mate desktop.
On KDE5 it still works as usual.
Will have to see what is going on with Mate later on, too much stuff to focus on first..

It's OK to use KXstudio on Ubuntu 18.04 now. Just as lilith says, a little application lost their icons on desktop environments based on gtk libraries ( mate,xfce,gnome3...etc ) . They still works correctly.
