Would be great to have a Ubuntu/Debian package ardour-git in kxstudio same like we have it for carla.
This would be great for those who want to try out the latest & greatest changes.

It seems to work nicely:
I'm using the git build for some time now (Don't be afraid: I know it is
pre-alpha and won't complain if it eats my data). The improvements are
big enough to make my colleagues jealous.

This is an extraordinarily bad idea.

The fact that git master is working "fine" for someone right now doesn't obscure the fact that:
  • it will save your work in a session format that is neither back-compatible with 5.x nor likely to be the format used by 6.0
  • may not allow your work to be opened even by another "git build" that you try out tomorrow
  • can only sanely be used for throwaway work and testing
Why would anyone think that it is a good to open what is a pre-alpha, under-development version to normal software package management systems is beyond my understanding. We're not asking people to test it, and we absolutely do not want people to package it.

if you subscribe to ardour you get access to "nightly" builds which allow exactly that.

but of course you must realize the risks as listed by dawhead.

I seem to check this every other day. Can't wait to start building the alpha.

Fantastic!

If anyone is interested I've been working on some Ardour scripts for sample editing. I've been using a modified version of A5 to include some A6 only features so the new release will be very welcome.
