Re: Open Source Hardware Instrument
But I'm not really sure if it really is "open source" or just "closed source" company marketing strategy.
If it should be "closed source" corporate marketing strategy >> /dev/null.

Re: Open Source Hardware Instrument
Oh, I think its the same as the Korg Volca Sample which IIUC still has closed firmware but they have an editor/SDK for working with it that is open source. Its much better than a closed source SDK, but I was hoping for a full on open source firmware synth.

Re: Open Source Hardware Instrument
there are quite a lot open hardware / open source instruments and/or DIY kits available nowadays.
i recommend to everyone such kind of projects instead of expecting open source stuff from big manufacturers.

Re: Open Source Hardware Instrument
Yeah, I get that. But I'll still hope one of the big players will try something fully open. It'd be nice to have the lower cost from their volumes that the little guys simply can't offer. Until then, I'll just keep saving up to buy the 'boutique' open stuff.chaocrator wrote: i recommend to everyone such kind of projects instead of expecting open source stuff from big manufacturers.
