My Second Production

Post by finotti »

I finally finished my second full production! (The first one is here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16926)

It's very similar (in terms of the production) to the first one: I've recorded all guitars (from my amp, a Mesa DC-3 with IRs) and programmed the rest. Keyboards are basically ZynAddSubFX and setBfree, drums are DrumGizmo's MuldjordKit. For bass I used Samsara's Om Bass, and the new GxSVT bass preamp plugin (and an IR).

MIDI programming in Muse, tracking and mixing in Ardour, with lots of Calf plugins and x42 and EQ10Q EQs.

The song is a song I wrote a long time ago (90 or 91, I think). Definitely rock (even a bit heavy -- well, not for today's standards, maybe), with some progressive rock influence. It was suppose to be sung, but I don't remember the lyrics, so the guitars are (unfortunately) playing the vocal parts.

Mixing is still hard for me, so any constructive criticism or suggestions are more than welcome.

The song is here: http://luisfinotti.org/music/files/CDA2 ... _21.33.mp3

Thanks! I really appreciate it! Although, I must say that there were so many takes and just as many fixes, so I am not sure it is really representative of my true playing. :-)

Thanks! I guess I just can't hide that I grew up in the 80s... :-)

Why should you hide your background? 8) Never do!
:-) I was (mostly) kidding. I am a bigger fan of 70s music than 80s, but I don't really try to force what I write. (Well, this song was written in the early 90s...)

Thanks again!
