The Infinite Repeat - Cala Del Aceite
Dear all,
Finally got around finishing a new track. And it's just 65BPM so no four
to the floor this time. I posted the demo a while ago, this is more or less a definitive version (definitive is a fluid term in my dictionary).
http://theinfiniterepeat.com/music/the_ ... aceite.ogg
This song is about one of the most beautiful places I know on this
planet, Cala Del Aceite in the most southern part of Spain:
http://www.conilplaya.com/fotos/playasd ... eConil.htm
Tools used:
* Qtractor for recording and mixing
* seq24 for sequencing
* The necessary plugins:
- drumkv1 to hold the drum samples (drum samples are all from
http://samples.kb6.de/)
- a lot of plugins that are part of Distrho or Carla: Noize Maker, Tal
Reverb III, ZynAddSubFX-LV2, Nekobi
- MDA subsynth
- FluidSynth DSSI for the Rhodes
- linuxDSP plugins (EQ500, DYN500, MBC2B on the master bus)
- Calf Vintage Delay
- LADSPA comb filter, Fast Lookahead Limiter
- GxZitaReverb
The background vocals for the choruses are sung by my wife. The ocean
sample is from Freesound:
http://www.freesound.org/people/dobroide/sounds/93653/
Cádiz is pretty close to Conil, hence the choice.
Thanks to everyone for making this possible. Especially falkTX and rncbc, couldn't have done this without your valuable work.
Lyrics
------
Making promises that I can't keep
It's pushing me, pushing me into a deep
State of sadness, state of doubt
A state of awareness I can't live without
Making mistakes, so hard to bear
It's driving me, driving me to a point where
I can't escape, I can't shy away
From the daemons I refuse to obey
All is forgiven, all is well...
Awaiting the day that I'll be relieved
From this burden, this burden that has grieved
So many loved ones, so many friends
All the people on which I depend
Stand up, act now, it's time for a change
Lingering won't help, help to rearrange
The current imbalance, the current state
Of things so rush now don't hesitate
All is forgiven, all is well

Hi AutoStatic,
I'm glad that you did find the time to release a new track!
65bpm is peaceful indeed, but that suits you well.
Cheers.

Hi,
These releases are too few and far between!
I really enjoyed this one, the production is top notch, the vocals and harmonies really create an ethereal atmosphere, I love that Synth bass especially when it jumps up and takes the lead in the instrumental break. Nice work!

Thanks DoosC! And yes, I'm getting closer to what I think is the best way to combine traditional and digital instruments.DoosC wrote:Hi AutoStatic,

As a dad of two kids with a full-time job it's hard to find timeGMaq wrote:Hi,

I understand completely! On the plus side when they grow up and become teenagers you will find the time will return, unfortunately those precious years always seem to go by far too quickly so enjoy them to the fullest... We'll still be here to listen whenever the muse and schedule align.. . I've been very fortunate to have enjoyed those years and now have two young musicians to collaborate with..AutoStatic wrote:As a dad of two kids with a full-time job it's hard to find time

Re: The Infinite Repeat - Cala Del Aceite
Nice tune,
Really nice vocals ( both you and the misses) and very good song writing. I like the lazy summer'ish feel of this tune.
Personally I would make it more dreamy /reverb'ish ( think of beach house / moderat )
Respect in finding the time to do this - I am struggling to complete a set of old demos with 2 kids and full time job.
I - like the politicians - use year 2020 as target deadline.
Can I do a remix based on the vocals and guitar line ? (All wrongs reserved and all right preserved, naturally)

Thanks Rapstam!Rapstam wrote:Nice tune,
Moderat's Bad Kingdom has been an inspiration for this song. Beach House is awesome too. Unfortunately I lack the skills at the moment to recreate the atmosphere of their music. But apparently I did succeed in pinning down this summerish feel, I take that as a big compliment.Rapstam wrote:Really nice vocals ( both you and the misses) and very good song writing. Thanks, it's trying to get done as much as possible in between other things. But it does get a bit frustrating every now and then. Hope you get something done way before 2020Rapstam wrote:Respect in finding the time to do this - I am struggling to complete a set of old demos with 2 kids and full time job.

Sure! That'd be awesome! I'll upload the stems next week and post where you can find them.Rapstam wrote:Can I do a remix based on the vocals and guitar line ? (All wrongs reserved and all right preserved, naturally)

A really nice and atmospheric song. I like it.
But the harsh noises coming from time to time (eg at 1:10) hurt a bit. I think they're much too loud.

Thanks bluebell! I'll take a listen to the harsh noises, it's probably string noise.bluebell wrote:A really nice and atmospheric song. I like it.
