Hi folks,

We're glad to announce the availability of LMMS 0.4.3. This version is a
maintainance release of the 0.4.x series. It fixes most of the bugs found in
version 0.4.2 and brings in improvements on performance and stability. Thanks
to all who helped making up this release (especially those who kept up testing
and reporting bugs)!

Detailed changes:
=================

Core:
* fixed various bugs regarding MIDI recording and record accompany
* do not lockup when freezing pattern
* sampleBuffer: fixed small bug in usage of libsamplerate API which caused
lots of zero samples at the end of various samples (e.g. in
AudioFileProcessor)
* sampleBuffer: do not load samples bigger than 100 MB
* integrated latest libsamplerate which is both faster and more reliable
* various fixes to allow compilation with upcoming GCC 4.4
* simplified formulas for calculating envelope and LFO data resulting in about
3x performance when changing envelope or LFO parameters frequently (e.g. by
automation)
* audio mixer: heavily improved organization of worker-threads resulting in
much better performance and stability (especially with Hyperthreading-enabled
CPUs)

GUI:
* update patternView after freezing
* fixed painting of frozen patterns
* make space always play song when in Song-Editor regardless of last button
pressed
* rewrote timing of fading animation for not postponing updates of hidden
fadeButton until it becomes visible
* disable output monitor per default and show a hint on how to enable
* small cosmetic improvements
* Piano-Roll: fixed bug that alloed to move notes past the beginning via
shift+left
* fixed unquantized BB-objects dragging in Song-Editor, use Alt modified
instead Ctrl
* fixed cloning of Beat/Bassline track
* fixed infinite recursion in mouse-event-handling of knob on Mac OSX

Plugins:
* Sf2Player: update patch after loading settings (i.e. project or preset)
* FLP import: properly initialize isMuted member - fixes muted FX channels
when importing older FL files

Win32 build:
* used latest snapshot of GCC 4.3.x series for compiling
* integrated latest snapshots of Qt 4.4.x
* upgraded libsndfile from 1.0.17 to 1.0.18

I got around to building this and it looks like it might actually work with jack... I see "lmms" show up as a jack client and it's working without any pops, crackles or other artifacts. This could be a fun weekend...

Well the new lmms shows up as a jack client, but doesn't seem to work when I route its outputs to any other apps. Still, it is working with Alsa on the my system with no apparent audio artifacts. This is a step in the right direction.

yeah i don't know how high getting the JACK compatibility is on the list of things to do by the devs. sure it will get sorted soon. generally though because i can do everything in lmms apart from choppin samples its not an issue.

I don't think jack is a high priority with the devs... LMMS has never worked with jack without mega xruns, pops, etc...
I've been testing it for years on different distros and I get the same jack results... Even at the forum when that question is asked, naver a definite resolution.
I haven't tried this version with jack yet because I'm afraid to after 2 versions of trying to get it to work smoothly with alsa which it has since the version before this one. Don't wanna kill a good thing...

It looks like Jack support is "sort of" there. It's enough to make it show up as a jack client, but not enough to waste any time testing. This is the version that actually works with Alsa on my system so I'm happy with that much.

This app would be so amazing if the devs paid more attention to the jack side of things...Again, I keep mentioning Windows but I the more time is spent on that version because it's runs amazingly smooth on Windows for a very long time now....
Just the version before this that I've had great performance with in on linux... I really love the app. Just wish an app named Linux MultiMedia Studio would run on it's native platform better than any other.

personally i've never seen anyone running lmms smoother than on my linux system, so fair enough if you have managed to get the windows version running better.

good workings with JACK would be useful, but tbh i really don't care cos i can do everything i need inside LMMS, there isn't the same need to be hooking it up to many different apps.

yeah, I get a lot done now with it since it runs great with alsa. I do all I need to do with it, the I export to wav files and bring them into Ardour to add guitar and vocals....
But it does run better on Windows from my experience.

I just got it to work in jack!!!!!!!!!!!
this is what I did,
open control jack
open lmms
eitt to settings, then click the speaker icon, click the drop down box and select jack
open ardour
open 2 mono stacks or 1 stereo
got to jackd connections, connect lmms to ardour
arm the track and click record in ardour, go back to lmms, play your pattern, or instrument
when finished, hit stop in ardour, an vola! lmms just recorded in ardour! Yes!

Ok, now that I said that, how do I get midi setup in lmms, I can't seem to get that to work......

those xruns came from starting up the app. nothing running yet... If I ran a beat or anything, it would crash... LMMS has always been like that for me..

you won't be able to do the midi through JACK into lmms, you'll have to do midi through alsa
