upcoming ardour 2.x release

Post by thorgal »

hi guys,

now that is some news :
http://ardour.org/node/2443

thanks to the important donations Paul Davis got in January, he will soon release a new version of ardour with some long awaited functionalities, mainly:

- track template
- VST native support thanks to the recent work done on FST.

If I understand correctly, you will be able to save preset / chunk (see Paul's reply in http://ardour.org/node/2462), plug a VSTi directly into a track (but triggered by external MIDI events in ardour2 while ardour3 will have MIDI sequencing) and record its audio directly onto the track.

ArdourVST binaries will from now on be packaged without any legal issues. If that doesn't increase the linux user base, then I don't know what can do it :D

Great! I'm still looking how to get everything working with ardour and the related software, but it's a matter of practice I supose...
