Report Wishes and Bugreports to Debian

Post by studio32 »

A good way to improve Linux audio/musician software on Debian (based) systems:

Here is an nice howto: http://blog.thedebianuser.org/?p=145

How should I report bugs?

First, search for the package name on http://www.debian.org/Bugs/ to see if someone has already reported a particular bug. If so, click the link on the bug page to reply or subscribe by email to the bug report.

If it really is a new bug, use the reportbug tool, see:

http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting

And is it possible to add wishes for new packages

Yes, this is called a 'wnpp', :

http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/ >>> check RFP

or changes to packages?

That would be a bug report with severity 'wishlist':

http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities

edit: to setup the reportbug mail sending system:
http://wiki.debian.org/sSMTP

I've already posted quite some 'wishes' ;) e.g. ardour with lv2 support, frescobaldi, gtklick, jack_mixer...

Here is another nice howto: http://blog.thedebianuser.org/?p=145

last time I saw, ardour had LV2 support ... or did I dream ? this plugin window with shiny buttons that popped up from ardour's track ... was it really a dream ??

ah but maybe you mean the packaged ardour ... that would be another story ... I have no clue what the prebuilt ardour comes with ...

I reported some more.... as a good example ;)

So this also means we need some package maintainers here! ;)
