Can someone recommend a good linux sampler? I use zynaddsubfx for synth purposes, but I'd love to use my midi keyboard to trigger sound samples.
Thanks all!

Re: samplers?
hydrogen can be used. A kit can be made of any 32 or fewer samples, by loading
a hydrogen kit, and replacing its samples one by one. A bit fiddly first time through.
Save it with a good name, when complete. Create patterns, olace them on a grid, hit play button,
and the midi keyboard can play the sounds.
linux sampler is getting better, still quite complex. I think it supports sfz, giga, and soundfonts.
It may be ready to roll in AVLinux.
specimen is an older sampler, that I have not used
Highlife is a wonderful sampler, a linux version was made,

The windows version was one of the first audio apps to host vsts in a linux wine setup, many years ago.

Lightweight, very simple to use, and perfectly effective at its job.
Is it still developed ?
Best,

If you don't mind living on the edge, you can use my sampler that I first started writing about a month ago
It works, although it's nowhere near feature complete yet.
You can find it here:

Last time I checked Specimen was forked and revived under the name of foobar.
