Plugins from SKnote COULD be ported to Linux!
Hi.
I'm a Linux user since 2001 and i would love we push a little bit more the use of Linux on the audio world.
I'm trying to convince Quintino from Sknote to port their cheap and GREAT plugins to the native VST linux format. Ardour 3.0 Beta 1 started to support it natively.
I think he'll do it if we are able to convince him. He stated: "I'm sure we'll consider it after completing the porting to ProTools formats...
Wondering what the userbase is..."
See the thread here:
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/product- ... ost7244613
SKnote plugins here:
http://www.sknote.it/
let's leave a message on gearslutz forum or send an email to Sknote asking for the port.
I'm sure we can convince him.
Cheers

Re: Plugins from SKnote ported to Linux!
the reply from quintosardo on gearslutz just proves how freakin' closed minded Windows users are.. How on God's green earth is he a musician and uses Linux and not know that he can also use it for audio production?
I have friends like that... I can see someone who has never used linux before saying that but quintosardo claims to be a casual user, you'd think he'd look at what the platform can do..
What do you need from us exactly to get these ported??
edit: I meant Deltones, not quintosardo

Re: Plugins from SKnote ported to Linux!
How do you know Quintosardo is using Linux??? He doesn't say that....
He's the owner of Sknote.
If no one ask him to do it he will not guess what we need....

sorry, I copied the wrong name, I meant Deltones!!
but what can we do to get it ported, just request it on the forum??
edit: nevermind, I'm just following and backing up what ever you say on that forum... I've registered..

eah!
Quintosardo seems to be a nice guy. I think i'll do it if we ask gently.
At least he's interested on what plugin format linux has.

Well, he doesn't say you can't use Linux for audio production, just that he feels it's not where Linux's strength is. Not sure I agree, but it's a valid opinion imho.funkmuscle wrote:the reply from Deltones on gearslutz just proves how freakin' closed minded Windows users are.. Anyway, the more plugins become available the better of course

Re: Plugins from SKnote ported to Linux!
raboof, yeah, you maybe right but I've heard that too many times from friends... In fact my friend bought a Mac because he was so fed up with Windows and after seeing my $90.00 system, his reaction was 'I thought Linux was for servers and a wannabe desktop?'...... I work in a call centre for internet support and when I tell customers what I use, I get that answer...
but onto the main topic here... yeah, we need more plugins so let's all join that forum and ask/beg...

You want him to port them for free? Better hope he has JUCE.scalawag wrote:Hi.

Get 50 linux users to agree to pre-purchase, and settle on a timeframe for one desirable plugin, preferably one not done thoroughly already, by calf or invada. SKnote gets $1000+
and perhaps future sales, if the plugin is great. Linux users get some hope and change
Re: Plugins from SKnote ported to Linux!
The title of this thread is a bit misleading, maybe edit to indicate
one hopes that xyz will get ported, rather than the statement form it now has.
Rumors get started by little mis-communications.
