[POLL] Does anyone still use 32-bit Linux and 32-bit software?
Hi all!
As you probably see last years, modern Linux distributions trend to reject support of 32-bit x86 architecture. For example, in latest OpenSUSE Leap 16.0 the 32-bit support has been completely removed. The same is true about other distributions that mark 32-bit x86 architecture as obsolete.
So, my question is, is it worth to still keep supporting 32-bit x86 architecture by LSP Plugins or not? Are here users that still use software with 32-bit Linux installed?

Linux runs on a lot more devices than modern desktops and laptops. Single Board Computers (SBC) like the Raspberry Pi are 32 bit (aybe the latest is 64 bit, dunno). And the "fun" of Linux is that it would run on any old computer that you can find so you could still use that ancient laptop that you love so much.
So my answer is: yes. I've got SBC's and old computers.

I think it's reasonable to drop 32bit support today, especially when working with limited resources.

No. Machines that can't run 64 bit software are too old and too slow to be usable for music production.sadko4u wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 7:39 am So, my question is, is it worth to still keep supporting 32-bit x86 architecture by LSP Plugins or not?
