There is an experimental build of Uzesynth aka MusicDemo available on the Uzebox forums that lets you use the Uzebox console as a MIDI controlled chiptune synthesizer via the Uzebox UART headers. It's not really much use as a MIDI synth yet as you would have to recompile Uzesynth every time you wanted to change a patch but hopefully someone will create a more fully featured MIDI controlled synth for the Uzebox.
I didn't go to the effort of creating custom patches for this MIDI playback demonstration so it doesn't sound much like the actual game music but you can still make the tune out just using the default Uzesynth patches.

The 'Uzebox Omega is a fully open source games console that you can build in a weekend, even with no previous electronics experience:

This is an exciting development for the Uzebox! It's great to see the potential for MIDI control in chiptune synthesis. I can’t wait to see how this evolves into a more user-friendly synth with customizable patches. Thanks for sharing the video and links, Danboid! Keep up the amazing work!

Re: Uzebox UART MIDI synth proof of concept video
There's been no Uzebox MIDI news since I posted this but an initial WIP version of a mod player has been posted on the forum:

It's looking like we should be able to upgrade the Uzebox to 512K SPI RAM which should allow most mod files to play and allow for better music and more sfx in games.
Do you own a Uzebox alexanderduen?
