How can I increase the dimensions of a VST on a HiDPI display?

Post by famadorian »

I've loaded Antares Auto-Tune into Bitwig, but it's very small dimensions and I have trouble actually seeing the labels.

I'm on a HiDPI display. Anything I can do?

I use a HiDPI display with KDE/Plasma. I don't know about for a single plugin GUI, but I had to increase the size for everything, which I did in

Settings - Display and Monitor - Display Configuration

...where I lowered the resolution from 1920 x 1080 (16:9) to the next 16:9 setting, which is 1600 x 900.

This took care of the vast majority of things that were too small.

You should keep your monitor at its native resolution. Instead so you should select UI or window scaling (the name will vary depending on DE), I don't know where this is on KDE, on xfce it's in the Appearance menu. Set it to 2x scaling or 200%. If your DE supports it you might also be able to scale in smaller increments.

In KDE I prefer to keep the native resolution (I have UHD/4K) and increase the Global Scaling to make things readable.

@d.healey snap! In KDE it's in the same section as the resolution. Scaling is adjustable in 6.25% increments.

Using window scaling instead of changing the resolution mostly works on my system (Ubuntu Studio 24.04, which uses Plasma), but the taskbar and application launcher icons remain too small, and (more importantly to me) the track text is blurred and midi notes funny-looking in Qtractor.

With the icons issue, they can be re-sized, but there are only two options as far as I can tell: too small or ridiculously large.

Maybe it will help with the OP's problem, though.
