Any graphic designer here?

Post by tramp »

Hi
while working on my latest project I think I could ask for some help for the UX. That means I didn't think it's to bad, but the colour theme at least didn't satisfy me. So I like to ask here if some graphic designer is a board with interest to work out a colour theme for this. So here is the UX:

I'm looking for a theme for the rack mounts, in special the colours of them, to make the view a bit more nice. If you've a idea, PM me or answer here.

regards
hermann

project is here:

Hi, is there a file where all the colors are defined? If yes I could give it a try.

Also the rack module names (like Noise Gate, Pedal Profile, etc..) in that gray are a difficult choice for everything that is not really dark or really bright. I think they would need to be of another color.

No graphic designer here but I can only advice to pay attention to the contrast for text and background color (relatively to accessibility), maybe using this kind of application: https://app.contrast-finder.org/?lang=en :)

Chat GPT can be very helpful for pointing in the right direction for improving existing designs

It changed not only the rack colors, it got rid of almost every skeumorphic element (except buttons/knobs).
I quite like it, I'm a fan of flat design, but it's a bit beyond the scope of just changing the colors.

And BTW, the colors are not much different from what we have now:

Okay, that's not a bad concept. :)
That's how it looks when I quickly adapt that.

@d.healey Could chat GPT generate sprite sheet images ((100x100) x 101 horizontal) from the knob?

@tramp I can't get it to, it just keeps giving me sheets of the static knob. I think it is also limited on the size of images it can generate. Are you not able to use vector graphics in the tool you're using to create your GUI?

I think it's an improvement, but is misses an important feature of the AI design, the increased contrast between labels and background colors.

  • Try making the font color of the labels of the sections, white or a bright grey.
  • Also the knob labels (some seem darker than the others, why?).

Also, the lines indicating which IR belongs to which channel (L/R) are now very hard to see.

An important detail the AI missed: there is no indication in the UI of how many dBs Input, Output and EQ bands knobs are set and what is the current threshold in the Noise Gate.

So after some more work I god this:

I guess it's not bad.

Values for the knobs will be shown on hover.

I think it looks great actually, huge improvement over your first draft.
