Carla patchbay

Post by Dillonfromtranquil »

Hi everyone, I hope this will be a quick one, how do I get carla patchbay to minimize without closing the vst? I'm using BBC symphony discover, I would like to use this particular vst's GUI. I'm using tracktion waveform on ubuntu (not ubuntu studio) and it is in fact the only vst I'm currently using as I only made the move from windows a few days ago. Thanks in advance :)

If it's only a single VST plugin, does not Waveform host it natively?
Or if you need to use Carla without GUI, there is carla-single.

Nope they don't have a linux compatible version. Any help on how I can use carla-single?

ubuntu (not studio) is a p.i.t.a. in particular about carla. about a year ago i had kubuntu "jammy." discovered it had "outdated" packages for some of the "kx.studio" stuff. which means must enable the "kx.studio" repositories instead. i have actually tried this on debian "bookworm" only however. but that allows "carla patchbay" and "carla rack." i can't tell you anything about "carla single." because it's new to me.

i was able to use "carla rack" for a single lv2 plug-in. in this case cardinal synth. on a 9-year-old copy of renoise 2.8.2 64-bit. with alsa and without jack. maybe because i'm lucky.
