need help setting up scarlett

Post by jigy »

Hi,

I'm new to this digital music stuff. I'm on arch based linux and I have a scarlett solo that I got on a sale. I connected it to my PC and I connected my guitar and my headphones to the scarlett.

When I pick a strin, the "2 Gain" light flickers up, so the scarlett seems to be working. Also I have installed ardour and when I make it run the metronom, I can hear it through the headphones that are connected to the scarlett.

so far so good.

but what do I have to do next so that I can actually hear my guitar?

I don't have this gadget but I assume it's like a USB mic. If you have JACK, go to start JACK screen and click configure, select your USB gadget as the input. Go to Ardour, Select Track menu, select Add Track VCA/Bus. A new track should pop up under Master, press the little round button that looks like a REC symbol and it should light up red and hear your input.

Use the direct monitoring that your Scarlett offers. It's latency-free and doesn't need any configuration on the computer.

To listen to your recorded tracks you have to use the mixer in Ardour.

Since the Scarlett Solo is working and you can hear the metronome, the next steps are getting the audio from your guitar to be routed properly through Ardour so that you can hear it through your headphones.
