[Ardour] Syncing Time-Grid to Music

Post by spetraschek »

Does anybody have an Idea how I can do this?

I've recorded a piece, where a part in the middle has free timing (rubato). Before and after that part, everything was recorded to a click-Track, so that's perfectly in time. Now I want to add Midi-Drums (using Drum Gizmo). What I want to do is moving individual beats from the grid to the point, where the measures are felt, so I can program some drum-fills and come out on the one, when the song continues with correct timing.

I am not sure if these will help or not, but here are some Mixbus videos that may touch upon what you are trying to accomplish. It should essentially be the same process for Ardour since Mixbus is based on it.

Sorry, for my very late reply - I tested it, then had to leave the Computer and then just forgot to reply.
HUGE thanks - that really did the job. It works a littel bit different in Ardour, but a littel bit try and error, and the keyword "Tempo Mapping" did the job.

In Ardour, it functions slightly differently, but after a little trial and error, the keyword "Tempo Mapping" worked.
