When you drag midi out of the window, regardless of whether it lands anywhere, it creates a temporary (until you close the program) midi file in /tmp/neuralnote I have tested this in standalone and as a vst3 in carla.

Re: NeuralNote
I tested the VST3 in Reaper and drag and drop did not work either trying to drag audio into the plugin or midi into a track.
However it did work for the Standalone. I was able to drag and drop an audio file from a file folder into NeuralNote. I did the mod to get the midi right. From there was able to drag the midi file into a folder. From that folder then was able to drag the midi file into a Reaper track and it sync'd up with the same audio that was dragged from folder into another Reaper track.
The plugin can drag and drop to folder too but to load the audio in Reaper the audio file has to be navigated to within the plugin.
I have not had a chance to test other plugin hosts. I am on Debian 12 using KDE Wayland and Pipewire. I will also try x11 to see if that makes a difference.

For me it worked or works in everything now ever since I cleared out all of the windows VST version out of yabridge.
Yabridge every time you do a sync I notice it just creates multiple directories inside of the main one or subdirectories or whatever you want to call it. Subfolders?? So every once in a while I go into the VST folders or directories and remove yabridge directory and then do a sync again.
As I mentioned earlier once I did that, the plugin was able to work and I can just drag from it in a reaper or whatever and put it onto a midi track.

Re: NeuralNote
I've got the feeling that drag and drop is more hit and miss on gnome than on KDE. While it works most of the time in dolphin, oftentimes I have problems with Nautilus and Bitwig, even more so with plugins. Can't recall exactly, but I think reaper handles this better, though.

I keep hearing a lot of negativity about Wayland and audio stuff like DAWs and plugins. In fact I was reading something on the Ardour forum and even AVL Glenn GMag was part of it and he was making a lot of sense so maybe keep that in mind. I have personally experienced the negativities from Wayland because one of the desktops I like to use in fact a light one I accidentally loaded the Wayland version and nothing but headaches. It's only when I rebooted the computer I noticed I went into the wrong environment and when I went into the x11 environment, everything worked.

Interesting, should keep an eye on that, too. The thing is, Wayland runs absolutely flawless for me on Fedora. It feels even snappier than X11 for me, somehow. Maybe drag and drop is the exeption here, hehe.

I may be wrong, but as far as i know the correct way to keep Yabridge clean is to use :
Code: Select all
yabridgectl sync --prune

That works too in Reaper, drag Midi from NeuralNote VST to a folder, then drag from folder to reaper.

Are you sure that you used the --prune option ?
I just tried it and everything worked as expected so i don't understand why it wouldn't be ok on your side...
juki@computer:~$ yabridgectl sync --prune
Setting up VST2, VST3, and CLAP plugins using:

Re: NeuralNote
Yep I've tried --prune actually yesterday because for some reason MY power lot VSD3 stopped working so I removed it to install VST2. It's probably the only Windows VST I would use because of composing songs. Well I pruned it and then scanned and it was still showing traces of the VSD3. Went into the VST3 folder and removed the yabridge folder and then sync things up and then scan and whatever residue that was left was gone. Only the VST2 is showing up now. Could be a bug on the version built for arch.
