Drumgizmo UI issue - midimap browse button out of view

Post by mh1983 »

Hi, sorry for 20 questions!

I didn't get anywhere with using Drumgizmo over CLI. Audio management systems got mucked up and I had to go nuclear and reconfigure from scratch.

As such, I'd rather use the GUI at this point. I'm able to pick a kit file, np, but unfortunately, as per the attached screenshot, the midimap browse button is just out of view and, try as I might, I can click it, nor scroll it into view.

I'm on an Asus T100 (10.1" screen). Is there any workaround to modify the GUI? Can subsections with settings be moved ("floating") so I can access the button?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

I think you can "pop-out" the plugin UI into its own window in Reaper, thereby removing the search-bar and other stuff otherwise present around the plugin when in the embedded tab. This could perhaps produce the extra space needed?
Not sure how to do it exactly though...

Alternatively you can meta drag the window (in KDE it would be WindowsKey+mouse drag, previously it was Alt+drag) at the center of the window. Then you can move it up outside the screen and then resize it to become bigger than the display resolution.

Thanks so much for the reply with some suggestions. I'll try them today or tomorrow and report back. Thanks again!

The popout option was promising as it did strip away the search stuff, etc, but sadly, didn't change the aspect ratio enough for me to click the browse button. :( Meta drag was neat, too, but didn't fix the issue either.

Is there a non-CLI way to run Drumgizmo standalone (I used Savihost on Windows, but not sure if there's an equivalent for Linux).

What was the problem with the meta-drag solution? As I see it, you should be able to increase the size of the window in the same was as if you had a bigger monitor.

Basically, it just seemed to zoom in on the screen, but the aspect ratio/layout of the UI didn't change, if that makes sense. Maybe it works differently on Zorin OS (Linux flavour I'm using), though, as I couldn't find a lot of info on that feature.

I was expecting you to be able to pop-out the UI and the resize it as a regular window. But perhaps this is not supported by Reaper?

Yeah, same! It did pop out and that stripped away the extra stuff like search bar, etc, but it wouldn't let me resize at that point. I may try it again a bit later just to be sure, because it does seem like it should work.

Can you resize the plugin window when you do not pop it out?

Nope, unfortunately can't resize beyond the view in the screenshot I shared.

I think that might be a limitation from the window-manager. Would it be possible for you to try KDE? At least that one I know can do it.
