a 'dark mode' option (for shady characters) for this site? thank you.

How can I make this site better? Let me know what you'd like to see!

a 'dark mode' option (for shady characters) for this site? thank you.

i may be missing it (apologies for my oversight if so) but i can't see a way to make this forum dark mode to be easier on the eyes (especially at night).

i web-searched 'how to apply dark mode in php forums' in case there was something i could do my end to make it happen and couldn't find anything, but i did notice this https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2557121 which 'looks like' (i know nothing of this science) something that can be added to a php forum by admins in order to make an option available to members.

maybe it's useful, maybe it's rubbish, maybe it's a pita to set up, and maybe it's even a security risk. i don't know.

but i thought to drag the link here just in case an admin who does know their stuff might want to evaluate it with regard to adding a dark mode functionality to this site.

and if any other members reading this think this would be a useful addition, please +1 this thread to make your feelings known on the matter.

many thanks.

please be patient with me if i don't instantly 'get' things not literally apparent to me. i'm not stupid, just different.

We have a dark theme.

You can enable it in your "User Control Panel" > "Board preferences" > "My Board Style" > Prosilver (Dark Edition)

many thanks for the tip, @LAM , it works well. the blue text on black is a bit harsh, but for the b&w/w&b text it's much better.

I personally love the standard layout and colours of this forum.
My first thought after reading the topic title here was: "oh no, another depressed goth person who wants the design in black".
But I do understand your point of view about the eyes.
I also have a problem with too much screen time, fatigue in the eyes.
Another thing you can do in the evening is put more light on in the room, surrounding the screen, so the screen light isn't that overwhelming.
The blue font on black background is indeed harsch.

Welcome on the forum btw !

For me it's the other way round. I find dark screens difficult to focus on, so sites or software that only has a dark theme are unusable :(
