Hi folks, I am totally new to this.
I am planning on recording mainly guitar.
Just got a Behringer UMC204HD and was planning to use it to record using Ardour 8.6 running Ubuntu 24.04.1
I am connecting it using the usb cable provided.
Ardour doesn't seem to hear it - no movement in the VU meter.
Do I need a driver for them to play nicely together or am I doing something obviously wrong.
Thanks
Behringer UMC204Hd

Re: Behringer UMC204Hd
a) can you hear the guitar on the phones output of the UMC204?
b) can you see/hear the sound on the ubuntu sound / tray?
c) check in Ardour that the input of the Audio track is connected to the input of the computer / UMC204
d) check the record button in the Audio Track
e) what does 'lsusb' in the terminal / command / konsole show?
f) search on the internet for e.g. 'usb soundcard ubuntu ardour pipewire'
You will succeed!

It's plug and play out of the box, you don't need additional drivers, that card is class compliant
You'll need to check the audio routing in Ardour, in other words, connect the card capture channels to Ardour track inputs

Thank you so much - it was the 'Rec' button top right.
I have now figured out how to record.
Next it's 'Neural Amp Modeller' Mwaahaahaa...
