Interesting. I've been using cups for decades, but I don't run cups-browsed on any computer. That was never necessary. We only have one (virtual) cups server with 2 configured printers in our household.

It's installed by default on Mint. And the firewall is off by default. Anyway, my first course of action after a new install is always to remove some unnecessary packages for hardware I don't have: printers and bluetooth for example.
