It takes considerably more time, and you have to be careful not to lose any data by properly backing things up beforehand, but wiping the drive and partitioning it ahead of installing Windows and Ubuntu Studio may be the best solution. Completely wiping the OEM installation of Windows off the drive and re-installing the official Microsoft version is the first thing I do whenever I buy a new computer. It boots faster, runs smoother, and doesn't slow down over time like OEM installations, but there are some some steps to be aware of going into it. If you are interested in more details, let me know.
