ProjectM and Jack server

Post by didgewind »

Hi there, I was using projectM for some time integrated with Jack2 audio server (using ubuntu with LXQT and projectM from repositories). When upgrading to last ubuntu versions this software was removed from repositories.

I found this two repositories, https://github.com/projectM-visualizer/ ... me-ov-file and https://github.com/kblaschke/frontend-s ... linux-pre1, but I cannot find how to connect (if possible) them to jack audio server.

Any help with this?

Thanks in advance.

If projectM uses SDL2, as is implied by the second link, make sure it (SDL2) is compiled with Jack support. This wasn't the case with SDL2 from Mint's 21.3 repo, and I had to compile it with Jack support myself. (Not for projectM, but for Schism Tracker which also uses SDL2)

Edit: but latest Ubuntu is pipewire-by-default, so that may change things in unexpected ways.
