Drumkit with Sound for Standard Jazz, Bebop, Swing...

Post by foersu »

Hello,

I recently installed REAPER and am still learning the ABC of this great DAW. An installed plugin is the Black Pearl Drumkit (2 out, 9 out).

Because I am a hobbyst bass player dedicated to the old jazz standards, bebop, swing, etc. I would like to have a drumkit plugin with respective "vintage" sounds, a requirement which is not fulfilled by Black Pearl.

Does somebody knows a suitable drumkit or drum samples?

Thanks in advance for your advices!

Cheers.

Perhaps the Virtuosity Drums samples from Versilian Studios / Karoryfer:

Or one of the kits from Organic Drum Loops:

Ubuntu, Mixbus32C; acoustic blues / country / jazz

Thank you all very much for the information, I will take soon a closer look of the samples.

I have the impression, that using sample sets (in a sampler) is the more flexible way for creating drum tracks than using complete drumkits e.g. like the Black Pearl Drumkit plugin. What do you mean about this statement?

I am still searching "my way" of creating my drum tracks which are intended as accompaniments to my bass playing and therefore any orientation is welcome.

Cheers.

Do I need the Sforzando Player here? This one is available only for Windows and MacOS.
Or how was the information intended?: just using the samples with an available (Linux!) sampler?

Cheers!

DrumGizmo DRS Kit has samples recorded with brushes (called whiskers in the files)

Sfizz seems to work fine. And it's a great kit by the way. And look at all those CC controls!

I don't know much about jazz drums, but I love my "retro custom" set by Goran Grooves. Works like a charm under Linux with yabridge for me.
Maybe their "jazz standard" is suitable for your needs? They are not free, but very fairly priced IMO:

new to all of this
