Ardour, I hear nothing when importing a midi file

Post by Gps »

I just started trying out Ardour8 and its already driving me nuts.

The only thing I try, is to import a midi file and listen to it.

This seems to work, because I see Vu meters moving.

I do not hear anything though.

Do I need to link to a soundfont file, like with LMMS ?

Is there a hint here, I don't get ?

Code: Select all

You need to route it to a sound generator like a soundfont, vsti, keyboard, sound module etc.

Progress with some help of the Ardour forum.

It was as simple as selecting my focus right solo as output device, when starting Ardour, on the midi tab. :D

Edit:

I should probably, rephrase this:

When you import a midi file into Ardour, you get a screen, were you can select your midi out.
Thats were I selected the focus
